Florida Keys History and Distribution:
Not reported for the Florida Keys by John Kunkel Small in 1913, but this species was not named until 1933. Small did report S. hamata in 1913, which is also found in the same area. We consider this native and extant only on Big Pine Key in the lower Keys.
