Perennation: Perennial

Native Range: Peninsular Florida and the West Indies. Long considered known in the continental US only from South Florida, in 2016 Alan Franck annotated a specimen collected in 1923 from Brevard County (M. Mulvania s.n.).

NatureServe Global Status: Apparently Secure

State of Florida Status: Endangered

Florida Keys History and Distribution: Reported in 1913 by John Kunkel Small for hammocks in the upper Keys.  We consider this native and extant in the upper Keys (Key Largo).
