Notas/Notes: Axelrod (2011) la trató como una presencia dudosa porque podría ser un híbrido entre Thelypteris hastata y ya sea Thelypteris poiteana o Thelypteris tetragona, pero esto aún tiene que ser confirmado.

Historia y distribución/History and distribution: Un helecho terrestre, raro, en el noroeste de Puerto Rico. Principales regiones geográficas conforme a Axelrod (2011): Colinas Calizas del Norte. Áreas botánicamente únicas conforme a Axelrod (2011): ninguna. Muy raro; conocido solo de Hatillo (Proctor 40678, US, IJ) y Quebradillas (Proctor 40671, SJ), donde fue recolectado en 1984.

A rare terrestrial fern in northwestern Puerto Rico. Major geographic regions following Axelrod (2011): Northern Limestone Hills. Botanically unique areas following Axelrod (2011): none. Very rare; known only from Hatillo (Proctor 40678, US, IJ) and Quebradillas (Proctor 40671, SJ), where collected in 1984.

Fue listada como una especie de interés global para la conservación por el Center for Plant Conservation (1992), quien la clasificó como una especie con prioridad A (un taxón en riesgo de extinción global en cinco años). Fue incluida como una especie conocida de tres o menos localidades en Puerto Rico y las Islas Vírgenes por Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) pero no como una especie limitada a una sola localidad por Figueroa Colon (1996).

This was listed as a Critical Element by DNER in 1988, 1999 and 2007. It was included as a species of global conservation concern by the Center for Plant Conservation (1992), who ranked it as a priority A species (a taxon at risk of global extinction within 5 years). It was included as a species known from three or fewer locations in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands by Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) but not as a species known from a single locality by Figueroa Colon (1996).
