ESTATUS EN LA ISLA DE PUERTO RICO/STATUS ON THE ISLAND OF PUERTO RICO
Presencia/Occurence: Presuntamente extirpado o extinto/Presumed extirpated or extinct.

Origen/Origin: Nativo/Native.

Historia y distribución/History and distribution: A rare epiphytic fern collected once by Sintenis (6354 P) as cited by Urban (1903) and Tryon (1964), the latter who observed the specimen in Paris (Maxon 1926, Liogier & Martorell 1982, Proctor 1989, Liogier & Martorell 2000, Axelrod 2011). Urban reported that the label stated “prope Arecibo ad Jobo.” Elsewhere in its range, this usually grows on mossy tree trunks in wet forests at low to middle elevations (Proctor 1989). Listed as a taxon not recently collected by Axelrod (2011). There is a specimen collected in 1993 by H.A. Liogier at El Verde in El Yunque National Forest labelled as this at MAPR (37111, duplicate at UPR), which needs to be examined.
