(2014).

Native and endemic to the eastern Puerto Rico Platform (Virgin Islands); reported for Vieques (Liogier & Martorell 1982, Liogier 1984 [III: 387], Liogier & Martorell 2000), but excluded as a misidentification by Axelrod (2011) and Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong (2012), and specifically as a misidentification of Eugenia fajardensis by Trejo-Torres et al. (2014).

(1975), who classified it as an endangered species not endemic to Puerto Rico (species No. 295), DNER (1988, 1999, 2007), Center for Plant Conservation (1992), Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
