ESTATUS EN LA ISLA DE PUERTO RICO/STATUS ON THE ISLAND OF PUERTO RICO
Presencia/Occurence: Presuntamente extirpado o extinto/Presumed extirpated or extinct.

Origen/Origin: Nativo/Native.

Historia y distribución/History and distribution: Una orquídea epifíta recolectada una vez en 1874 por Otto Kuntze (s.n. NY) sin datos de localidad específica (Ackerman 1995, Axelrod 2011, Ackerman 2014). Ackerman (2014) discutieron que la colección sea posiblemente legítima y que esté posiblemente mal etiquetada. Aunque disyunta, esta es una especie muy común a todo lo largo del litoral caribeño de América tropical; la dispersión a larga distancia de las orquídeas no es rara; aquí la tratamos como nativa de la isla de Puerto Rico y presuntamente extirpada. Citada por Axelrod (2011) como un taxón no recolectado recientemente. No hay registros recientes de esta en MAPR (Jeanine Vélez, com. email 2016).

An epiphytic orchid collected once in 1874 by Otto Kuntze (s.n. NY) without specific locality data (Ackerman 1995, Axelrod 2011, Ackerman 2014). Ackerman (2014) discussed the collection as possibly legitimate and possibly mislabeled. Although disjunct, this is a very common species all along Caribbean coastline of tropical America and long-distance dispersal of orchids is not uncommon; we treat as native to the island of Puerto Rico and presumed extirpated. Listed as a taxon not recently collected in Axelrod (2011). There are no recent records of this at MAPR (Jeanine Vélez, email comm. 2016).

(1975), quienes la clasificaron como una especie en peligro no endémica de Puerto Rico (especie No. 305). Fue listada como Elemento Crítico por el DRNA en 1988 y 1999, pero fue removida en 2007. No fue incluida como una especie conocida de tres o menos localidades en Puerto Rico y las Islas Vírgenes por Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) o por Figueroa Colon (1996).

This was first listed as a rare species in Puerto Rico by Woodbury et al. (1975), who classified it as an endangered species not endemic to Puerto Rico (species No. 305). It was listed as a Critical Element by DNER in 1988 and 1999, but was removed in 2007. It was not included as a species known from three or fewer locations in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands by Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) or Figueroa Colon (1996).
