Native Range: The West Indies, peninsular Florida, Central America and northern South America.

History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh. Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 281-283, with illustrations) as an epiphyte or lithophyte on trees, shrubs and rocks in thickets, coppices and scrublands, throughout the Archipelago (regions 10-1).
