History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh as spontaneous after cultivation in the northwestern Commonwealth (New Providence near Nassau). Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 1360) as spontaneous after cultivation in the northwestern Commonwealth (region 8).
