Native Range: Endemic to the West Indies (Bahamas, Greater Antilles).

History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh for scrublands and thickets throughout the Archipelago (Grand Bahama and Andros to Eleuthera, Watling’s Island, the Caicos and Inagua). Reported by Correll & Correll (1354-1355, with illustrations) for scrublands, thickets and hammocks nearly throughout the Archipelago (regions 10-1).
