Native Range: Endemic to the West Indies (Bahamas, Cuba).

History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh for coastal thickets, pinelands and borders of brackish swamps nearly throughout the Commonwealth (Grand Bahama, Andros, New Providence, Cat Island, Great Exuma, San Salvador and Crooked Island). Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 1132-1133, with illustrations) for thickets, road shoulders, pinelands and on the edges of brackish swamps nearly throughout the Commonwealth (regions 10-6, 4-3). Reports by Britton & Millspaugh also include region 5.
