History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh for shallow salt water in the northwestern and southeastern Commonwealth (Rose Island, Eleuthera, Mayaguana).

In shallow coastal waters; throughout the Archipelago (Correll & Correll, 1982)

Synonyms: Halodule beaudettei. The Flora of the West Indies (see link below) and ITIS treat these two as distinct, but many others do not. See, for instance, the
