History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh for salt water, often washed ashore, in the northwestern and central Commonwealth (Abaco, Bimini, Rose Island, Great Exuma).

In shallow coastal waters; northern and central Commonwealth (Correll & Correll, 1982).
