Native Range: The West Indies, southwestern United States, Mexico and Central America.

History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh for disturbed areas in the northwestern and southeastern Commonwealth (Eleuthera, Inagua). Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 474) for disturbed areas and “in thin soil on rock flats” nearly throughout the Commonwealth (regions 8, 6, 3-2). Apparently spreading as a weed.
