History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh (as A. viridis) for cultivated ground at Nassau on New Providence in the northwestern Commonwealth. Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 472) for disturbed areas in or about cultivated ground in the northwestern Commonwealth (regions 10, 8).

Synonyms: Amaranthus lividus; Amaranthus viridis of Britton & Millspaugh (1920), not L.
