History in the Bahamas: Not listed by Britton & Millspaugh (1920). Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 269-271, with illustrations) as mostly epiphytic, sometimes terrestrial, in the northwestern Commonwealth (region 8). Introduced from continental tropical America.
