SOUTH FLORIDA Native Status: Native

South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as critically imperiled in Rare Plants of South Florida (Gann et al. 2002; pp 245-247) based one occurrence at Everglades National Park in Miami-Dade County. Twospike crabgrass was discovered in Big Cypress National Preserve by IRC biologists Steve Woodmansee and Herbert Kessler in 2003. It was vouchered in the same general location later that year by IRC biologists Keith Bradley and Melissa Abdo (2553, FTG). There are also several specimens collected by Jason R. Swallen on Big Pine Key in the U.S. National Herbarium, where is presumed extirpated.
