SOUTH FLORIDA Native Status: Native

South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as presumed extirpated in Rare Plants of South Florida (Gann et al. 2002, pp 71-72), based on a single population in Matheson Hammock Park, first vouchered in 1929 and later mistaken for a nonnative invasive vine and accidentally destroyed by a restoration crew in the early 2000s. Widespread in tropical America, it is cultivated in South Florida from nonnative germplasm.
