Florida Keys History and Distribution: Reported in 1884 by J. Cosmo Melvill for the island of Key West.  Reported in 1913 by John Kunkel Small for hammocks and lime sinks in pinelands in the lower Keys.  Reported for the lower sandy Keys by Davis (1942), but not confirmed there.  We consider this native and extant in the upper Keys and lower Keys, and reported in the middle Keys and lower sandy Keys.
