Florida Keys History and Distribution:
Reported in 1884 by J. Cosmo Melvill for the island of Key West. Reported in 1913
by John Kunkel Small for hammocks, pinelands and disturbed sites from the upper Keys to the lower Keys. Reported in 1918 by H.H.M. Bowman for the lower sandy Keys. Although weedy, we treat as native and extant throughout the Florida Keys. This is almost certainly more common than it was historically, spreading along roadsides and in other disturbed areas.
