Gann et al. 2002, pp 70-71), based numerous collections in the Florida Keys from 1898 to 1978, and observed until 1979 on Key Largo, and several collections near downtown Miami from 1903 to 1921.

1913 by John Kunkel Small for disturbed sites and hammocks from the upper Keys to the lower Keys. Last observed in 1979 by George N. Avery on North Key Largo inside what is now Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammocks Botanical State Park
