South Florida History and Distribution: Although not listed in Rare Plants of South Florida (Gann, Bradley and Woodmansee, 2002), this taxon was apparently known only from old specimens from Miami-Dade and Lee counties (see
Atlas of Florida Plants), and was ranked as presumed extirpated by the IRC in 2016. However, because of two recent records from Charlotte County, this was reranked as critically imperiled using updated NatureServe criteria in 2025.
