Native Range: Endemic to South Florida in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties and possibly Collier County (see discussion in Gann 2015 below).

South Florida History and Distribution: Recent conservation work at Big Cypress National Park used high-powered microscopes to differentiate threatened Sideroxylon reclinatum subsp. austrofloridense from more widespread Sideroxylon reclinatum subsp. reclinatum. This research found more individuals of Sideroxylon reclinatum subsp. austrofloridense present than were previously known. ( Article from NPS)
