Ranked as critically imperiled in Rare Plants of South Florida (Gann et al. 2002; pp 415-417
) based on four occurrences in four conservation areas and three non-conservation areas in pine rocklands in Miami-Dade County. Although now known from several addtional sites, this still ranks as critically imperiled.
