Larval host plant for gray hairstreak (Strymon melinus) and tropical checkered skipper (Pyrgus oileus) butterflies. Nectar plant for barred yellow (Eurema daira), gulf fritillary (Agraulis vanillae), Palatka skipper (Euphyes pilatka), tropical checkered skipper and other butterflies.
